Her ascent has been marked by pivotal roles, including Chief Product Officer in 2019, and more recently, CEO of Depop after Etsy’s acquisition of the secondhand platform for $1.6 billion. Following her leadership at Depop, Goyal returned to Etsy’s main operations earlier this year, reorienting her focus towards enhancing the core marketplace.
Josh Silverman has expressed confidence in Goyal’s capabilities, stating, “I asked Kruti to come back to Etsy at the beginning of this year, with an eye to her having the right skills to be the person to lead the business.” He noted her efforts in laying the groundwork for Etsy’s strategic direction, including advancements in leadership and the integration of machine learning technologies.
To ensure a seamless transition, Silverman will remain on as executive chair until the end of 2026. This decision highlights the company’s commitment to stability during a crucial transformative phase.
