ZOOMING IN: Lacoste has announced its partnership with Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly, choosing him as the brand’s new ambassador. At 30 years old, Gasly competes for the Alpine F1 team and will be prominently featured as the face of Lacoste’s iconic polo shirt. This collaboration marks the beginning of several exciting initiatives set to launch in the upcoming months.
Gasly has characterized the polo shirt as Lacoste’s “strongest expression,” emphasizing its evolution from a staple of tennis courts to a symbol of effortless sophistication. He praised Lacoste for its ability to blend sports heritage with contemporary fashion, showcasing how the brand has successfully navigated the shifting landscape of style.
The creation of the piqué polo shirt traces back to the 1930s, thanks to founder René Lacoste, who sought a more comfortable alternative to the more rigid styles that athletes were wearing at that time. This innovation has since cemented the polo shirt’s status as a timeless garment, deeply ingrained in both sports and everyday elegance.
Lacoste’s CEO, Eric Vallat, expressed enthusiasm for this new partnership, noting that Gasly perfectly embodies the performance-driven spirit and tenacity that the brand has represented since its inception. Vallat added that Gasly’s high standards and his international profile, along with his connections to both tennis and golf, align seamlessly with the Lacoste ethos.
Pierre Gasly made his Formula 1 debut in 2017, quickly establishing himself in the competitive arena by becoming the youngest French driver to earn a podium finish just two years later. His career reached a significant milestone in 2020 when he clinched victory at the Italian Grand Prix held in Monza.
As of the 2026 season, Gasly currently ranks eighth in the drivers standings after competing in three races, reaffirming his status as a formidable talent in the motorsport world.
In addition to his role with Lacoste, Gasly was appointed as the ambassador for the Gentleman Givenchy fragrance line last year, promoting the Gentleman Society Eau de Parfum Ambrée. His versatility in representing luxury brands extends to his collaboration with Swiss watchmaker H. Moser & Cie, who named him their first brand ambassador in 2024. This partnership includes the creation of exclusive, limited-edition watches, blending his passion for high-performance with the craftsmanship of fine horology.
As Lacoste pays homage to its rich heritage while embracing modern fashion dynamics, the collaboration with Pierre Gasly is poised to attract a new audience and reinforce the brand’s commitment to performance and style.
