Prada Shakes Up Supply Chain: Over 200 Suppliers Dropped Following Labor Abuse Findings

MILAN — In a significant move, Prada has severed ties with over 200 suppliers in the past five years due to compliance violations, as revealed in a recent statement confirming a report by the Financial Times.

In 2020, Prada initiated a thorough audit of its Italian suppliers, resulting in more than 850 inspections of various suppliers and subcontractors. This review unveiled alarming breaches in labor laws, including inadequate sleeping quarters within some factories. Beyond these findings, various non-compliance issues emerged, particularly concerning health, safety regulations, and waste management processes.

Currently, Prada collaborates with approximately 1,000 suppliers and subcontractors located in northern and central Italy. The luxury supply chain in Italy has been marred by a string of sweatshop scandals involving high-profile brands like Armani, Dior, Valentino, and Loro Piana, all exposed by ongoing investigations from Milan prosecutors.
