Turning to the updates regarding Assisi, it’s a mixed bag of emotions as a fan of their bespoke offerings. However, many changes have transpired in recent months, and I’ve had conversations with Min Soo and other new members of the team. Here’s an outline of the recent developments.
Assisi was acquired last year by The Finery Company, an Australian operation led by Joe Ha since 2014, with Dabin from Assisi departing the company. While I don’t have personal experience with Joe or his operation, I encourage readers from that region to share insights based on their experiences.
A key aspect of TFC’s operations is bespoke tailoring, now guided by Min Soo from Assisi. He will oversee the handmade-to-measure offerings at Assisi, with the same skilled team in Korea behind the work.
TFC Bespoke stands apart from Assisi’s traditional bespoke services, but the quality appears to be excellent. I tested a suit from Joe, and found it well crafted. Its style leans more towards a structured silhouette, with vintage inspiration, featuring padding in the shoulders and a wider cut than Assisi. Additionally, the notch is relatively low, and the single-breasted cut features a three-button style that emphasizes a strong masculine aesthetic.
Though my exposure to the jackets has been limited, I look forward to seeing more from TFC’s offerings. For those interested, you can find more on their Instagram here.
Atelier Lavoro, having launched a couple of years ago, specializes in vintage Americana-inspired clothing, including sack-style suits crafted by the Assisi team in Korea. They utilize a variety of vintage fabrics to reinterpret classic American styles. Having seen some samples, I appreciate the aesthetic; even if some styles may not resonate with me personally, it’s refreshing to have options for well-executed MTM workwear.

For my personal experience with Assisi, I intend to continue ordering MTM from them, as I’ve established a pattern that can be utilized. The quality of their handmade-to-measure offerings has always impressed me.
